Field Layout:
-
Open field @ 20 acres surrounded by tree line
-
Center of field contains a 30' tower hidden in cluster of trees
-
Birds are released from tower and are estimated to be @ 30'-50' above
shooting position @ 35-40mph
-
13 shooting positions located in a circle around the tower each having a
number assignment
-
Field has been mowed in a wagon wheel style providing a walkway from each
shooting position and to the tower
-
Each shooting position will contain the following;
Field Staff:
-
Tower Master - Person releasing birds from tower. He
also controls the pace of the hunt
-
Ground Guides - Guides using retrievers to locate shot
birds. All shot birds are placed on top of roll bales for pickup
-
Shuttle Runner - Person responsible for shuttling birds from
shooting field back to clubhouse for cleaning. During each rotation,
this person will collect all shot birds from each shooting station and
take back to clubhouse.

Bird Cleaners - 4 people cleaning birds as they are shuttled
into the clubhouse from the field. They will try to keep pace with
the hunt and have all birds cleaned after lunch and ready for customers to
take home.
Field Rules:
-
Each shooting position will have 1-2 hunters assigned unless we have a
special request for more shooters. Maximum shooters per station is 3
-
10 birds tossed for each gun on field for up to 260 total birds
-
Position rotation every 20 birds tossed
-
Stay in your position during the hunt. No changing positions allowed
during hunt.

When "Tower Master" blows whistle you have @ 5 minutes to:

Unload your guns and show breach before
moving to next position

Put shot shells in bucket
-
Put any trash in trash can
-
Place any birds in your immediate area on top
of roll bale

Rotate one shooting position to your right
facing the tower

Once you have relocated, reload guns and
CHECK SAFETY
Shooting Rules:
-
DO NOT SHOOT behind your position - UPWARD & FORWARD SHOOTING ONLY
-
DO NOT SHOOT low birds - HIGH BIRD SHOOTING ONLY
-
Ground guides will call "Low Bird" indicating no shooting in that area
when birds are low. Be aware of the ground guides and dogs currently
working within the shooting circuit

Recommended 12 gauge using high brass #6 shot
